    Default How to get rid of static on my speakers??

    I just purchased a Altec Lansing 5.1 speaker system but I catch a fucking 80's radio station on it!! wtf? Is there a way to get rid of it??

    Same thing happened with me with a different stereo system. Are you in an apartment or something like that?

    It's caused by the building you are in not being ground properly. The only way I've found to fix it is if you stick a metal pole in the ground (of the earth, not your apartment)...and run a thin, metal wire all the way up and touch it to a metal part of your computer. I've been told that it would also work if you touch the wire to a water radiator, but this didn't work for me.

    I recently moved apartments and I don't get any crappy radio anymore; trust me though, you do get used to it! It used to piss other people off and I wouldn't even know it was there!
