Sandbox action game Just Cause 2 has planted its flag at the top of the UK video game chart, as compiled by Chart Track.

It’s the second number one in three weeks for publisher Square Enix, as the company also scored a hit with RPG Final Fantasy XIII.

The original Just Cause only managed to reach number two in the chart.

This week’s number two is Pokemon Soulsilver on the Nintendo DS, with Pokemon Heartgold also at number four.

In between those two is Battlefield: Bad Company 2, EA’s shooter which continues to sell strongly.

Just Dance almost slips out of the top five, but just hangs on at number five, with Modern Warfare 2 making a surprise move back up the charts to number six from nine (we figured it was on its way out of the top ten last week).

Last week’s top of the pops, God of War III, has slipped considerably to number 7, and is followed by Final Fantasy XIII at number eight.

Wii Sports Resort and finally Wii Fit Plus round off the top ten.
