need access but don`t know password

I have an old PC at home that i want to use but can`t because when it asks me for the windows password at start up i don`t have it ??

How do i get it going without having the password.

All i want to do is get it up and running to see if i can get a few quid for it, rather than it gathering dust.

    cheers..

What version of Windows does it have on it?
Does it say Windows password or Microsoft networking password?
Was it connected to a network? Try to give some more info.

    Press the ESC key
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

As AbraXus says, give us more info.

If its windows 95 or 98 try hitting Escape when it prompts for the password. This will cancel it and let you in, however I asume you would have tried this as it does the same as the CANCEL button on the Password box.

If its Windows NT 4.0, 2K, or XP then you have 3 choices:

    i) Format & start again.

ii) Boot off a dos disk use a well known windows hack, and gain admin access to the control panel then reset the admin password.

iii) Boot from a Linux disk with the Pnordahl's NT Password Changer, and reset it that way!

    Good Luck!
