yeah multiregion, and u can also get a macrovision free firmware for em now, just burn a cd with the firmware, put it in the player and it upgrades and no more macrovision. u can get the stuff from the group here:

another good thing for this player is that its dead easy to service, and it works using an IDE DVD drive so that if/when the dvd rom it comes with dies u can buy a cheap £30 one and replace it yourself easily.

ahhh, thats based on another mustek (the v520). i think there are macrovision and region hacks for them all but i cant be certain, check thr yahoo groups thing. im the mod but havent really been active in ages, as soon as i got my v300 macrovision free i stopped paying attention.

You can get Mustek players from http://www.stak.com and they start from £76 inc VAT for the v520. I think they can all be made region free from the remote through a hidden menu, and most of them have macrovision free firmware. Check that group for all the info before you buy if u wanna be sure.

ok... i cant be sure on this so youd be best to wait for a reply on the list from someone who knows about the latest firmwares, but I think the file you want it at:

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mustek...wmacrofirmware

The latest hacked firmware is the 2.02, and in that file you want the MDVD30C.rom file as thats the one for the Mustek V300. Burn that and the dummy file onto a blank cd, turn on the player, pop in the cd and wait. The screen may do funny colours and stuff, just let it do its thing and power off itself.

Im not sure, but there may be restrictions on which firmware u go for depending on which chipset your player has, i think i read that in a post somewhere.... but its definatly the MDVD30C.rom file for the v300.

The upgrade.txt file has info on what type of CD to burn. It was really easy to do but u gotta be careful
