    Default Racism in football

with the exception of the sectairianism between our scottish rivals, i thought that we had finaly seen the back of this thing in football.

But now from across europe, these morons are raising their ugly head, the situation must have been made worse by the pathetic "punishments" given out by uefa to some of the offending clubs, can this resurgance be related to a growing problem of racism within thes clubs home countries? or is it solely football related.

I dont include in this the disgusting behaviour at the international game the other day when the police simply attacked the english fans, watchin the english fans getting a beating but being afraid to respond for fear of what would happen to the england team whilst the foregin fans were ripping out seats and dropping them on the english fans whilst the police were attacking, but there was also a major problem with racists in the foregin sections to add to the problems with the police.

Just what should be done to the clubs and national teams whos fans behave in this way or indeed to the fa's of the countries in which the police simply attack english fans then defend their own thugs?

Most of the old eastern block countries have massive facist movements, these like they did here in the 70's and 80's they find support in football and so attach themselves to it, but it's more a problem in society than football. Same thing goes for Holland, Belgium and Italy, historically these countries have always had a well organised far right movement that has been prevalant for years. Again I think it's more of a social issue than anything to do with football.

The only way to combat it is for the football clubs to get tough like they have here and start booting these people out and keeping them out.

Think the idea to make clubs play behind closed doors after each racist incident is a good idea.

As think the normal fans would want to eject anyone making racist comments as they`d miss matches.

well I have been to prague and bratislava and can honestly say that almost all the grafitti was nazi based. I found myself very angry at the utter ignorance of these countries and their inability to eradicate such antisociasl behaviour.

It seems that these countries are still living in the 1940's although you dont see it as much when you get out of the big cities. But I will say this there are 100,000's of these w@nkers waiting for the new "hitler" I just hope he doesnt come.

All theese Eastern block ****ries are the same, Sinisa Mijhlovich called Patrick Viera " A Black Monkey" and he's an International player !!!

That area of the world are where we are 30 years ago, but the scary thing is i dont see them ever changing as they dont have the intergration in their soceity.........

Greece used to be rasist like that but now they are not, they even have Olisidebe playing up front for the national team, that would never happen in the eastern block.

the same Sinisa Mijhlovich who was friends with Arkan the man responsible for a lot of the ethnic cleansing in the former yugoslavia.
This man should be banned from football coz when Arkan died he got the facist Lazio supporters to display a massive banner glorifying Arkans life

The Lazio fans are notorious racists.
thats why the club is called S.S LAZIO

plus when thuram was rumoured to be signed the leader of the fans i forget what there called but these secretly run the club, told him he would never be welcome at lazio.

Dejan stankovic is also well knowned to be a racist during a england u21 game against yugoslavis he was making racist comments to our players.

how are fiai gonna stop it ask all fans are u a racist and if u reply yes you are not allowed to attend football matches. get real its gonna be very hard to get rid off unfortunately.

UEFA needs to adopt a hard line attitude with these clubs/countries. Begin to deduct points and impose heavy fines, and that should sort out some of the problems.

unfortunately it would not make a blind bit of difference

maybe a full club/country ban from international footy starting from 2 years then 4, then 6 etc.

The problem is the mentality of the locals they have similar problems as we have had in the past but the difference is that we had skinheads and outgrew that but they have neo nazi's and havent outgrown it.

Do u think they give a toss if a few points are deducted...exactly

Its an ugly side of Eastern/Central Europe that I doubt will ever go and if England didnt have such a high ethnic presence then we may not have been too different

These team's serve no purpose in this type of competition. Bunch of animals living in the past...dumbass mf's. Don't even penalise them, chuck them out of the competition and make them play there games behind closed doors or in a different country in future competitions.

    You guys are unnnnbelievable..!!!

The image of the English hooligan, skinhead, etc.,"stormin' over Europe",has now preceded you.

Your hooligan element, has been held up as an education to all the arse-holes in the football world,as they wrecked and pillaged every country they were allowed into.

    People in glass houses.........jeeeee-sus.!!!!!

You are now reaping the seeds of your own negligence.

The issue of racism has come to the headlines again. The football authorities need to come to grips with what is going on.
These european countries do seem to be still living in the 1920's & 30's.
If these racist views keep on being echoed at games my personal view is that teams with this type of supporters should not be allowed to participate

You've got some f**kin nerve, the 'old firm' is the model for every racist to follow, there's no more intolerant football fan than the ones attending an 'old firm' derby. I don't ever remember an England Captain ever having to resign from International Football because of death threats to him and his family.

beekae, you are right in saying that english footy fans used to set a bad example, but that was years ago, we learned and did as much as possible to stamp it out, maybe if the foregin football clubs had copied us instead of (in some cases) encouraging it (much like the old firm both accuse each other of encouraging these things, but dont actualy take action to stop it)

the only difference is you call it sectarianism instead of racism.
