since upgrading to broadband i find that i really drags on my processor. i am using a laptop and find that things slow down, the laptop is a PIII 750 with 256rm and 20gb HD. i was wondering whether it would be possible to build another system to tak the brunt of the dragging and use the laptop via the slave system to surf etc.

Sounds like you are using usb. If possible I'd swap to a network card and ethernet connection.

Have a check for updated drivers, you might find that is a problem.
