someone told me that the faster you write the worse the copy is because it gets bounce or something and it is not worth writing too fast.
also you can,t write on the fly at those speeds is this correct?

it wont be 5sx constant will it?

dont liteon do that zone thing, so from start it burns slow, and it gets to edge of teh cdr it burns at full speed

incidently 80min cd wil take 1.5 mins to burn

i reckon the lead in and lead out is longer than that!

i dunno about the fine details on cd writing, but i hear that liteon drives are good because they use the same chipsets for a range of burners, certain 32x liteon burners can be flashed with the 48x firmware and burn at 48x. the 52x burner uses a new chipset which would be used on future drives - some have suggested 72x burning with new firmware in the not so distant future

LiteOn CR Drives have built up quite a good reputation over thast couple of years!

There drives are just as good as the Plextor ones!

Are you talking about plextor cdrw drives or just plextor cd drives in general? i had a plextor 32x scsi and it broke in about 2yrs (cant remember how long exactly, but it would click when a cd was in)

lol plextor being best is a dated opinion. Most (all?) plextor drives cant handle writing of uncorrected EFM bit patterns, which makes them useless for writing playstation/pc games which use that kind of protection. is that a coaster in your pocket are are you just pleased to see me?
<Lionel Hutz> Oh I am, am I? Is that what you think? Well if that's what you think, I have something to tell you. Something which may shock and discredit you. And that thing is as follows. I'm not wearing a tie at all.

I bought a Liteon 40x12x48 for 39 quid from my local neighbourhood computer fair a few months back and it's the dogs danglies. I was on an 8x Yamaha before this and it churned out coasters like you wouldn't believe. I primarily bought the Liteon because of the burn protection feature. After putting it in I had a minor panic beacuse none of my burning software would work, but I just needed some newer versions. The version of Nero that came with worked fine and for anyone who's interested so do:
    Clone CD
    DiskJuggler
    CDRWin

But for anyone who's wondering, I haven't had an ounce of bother with it so far. I timed a write the other day and it did 639Mb in 3 minutes including the lead and and lead out (CDRWin) - cushtie.

So you're the slayer. You're prettier than the last one.

Do you mean cd to cd copy in five minutes or five minutes to get an image of your drive?
It takes me 5 minutes to get an image of my drive using 16 x . My writers 32x but for some weird reason the faster I write the slower the burn takes
