how to format pc

hi there , i've got a pc from tiny computors, i recently tried to upgrade from windows 98 se to win 2000me, it installed ok but now my internet wont work just freezes up all time, cant uninstall win me as it freezes up half way through process, tried to reformat by reboot method with flopy then typed format c:\ but it wont says missing command or invalid carector when enter is pressed, tiny helpline says its because its not there version of win me thats caused the problem, is this true or are they trying to sting me for £90 for xp which i don't want as i've tried on another pc. i'd like to install me from clean boot on hard drive after re format.

Could be a dodgy boot disk, you can check if "format" is on the disk, by doing a DIR.

If you want to try it with another boot disk, you can for example download one from here

is true it would of worked if u shelled out how much eva it was to get it from them then the hours on there help line

its a load oof bollox m8 winMe is a load of pish and not worth it if u dont like the start menu and stuff there is an option to switch it to standard in xp jusrt a thought b 4 u lose it all

If your having major probs formatting just create a boot disk & run fdisk and delete your partition then create a new pri dos partition and install what OS you like

win 2000me ?
Is that W2000 or Win ME, if its W2k it may have formated the drive in NTFS in which case a Win98/ME boot disk will not read the partition. use FDISK and remove all none dos partitions then try to remove any otherpartitions format in FAT and reinstall windows 98 se
