    Default cable vs adsl

can anyone shed any light on this please.if you go with ntl or telewest cable on broardband 512k its £25 a month.if you up your broadband rate to1 meg (1024k) its now £35 a month(bloody brilliant value)
why is it that if you up your rate to 1meg(1024k) on adsl the price goes to approx £100 a month, about 3 times more, which is a piss take.
im fed up because i can only have adsl where i live and the price for a 1meg connection is just disgusting.

    One simple reason.

    BT

The wholesale rate for 512 ADSL is £22 (if memory serves me correct)

The wholesale rate for 1mb is £70.

It is about time that BT took the price down, I'd certainly be willing to pay up to about £40 if i lived in a cable area for a 1mb connection, and i'm sure many other people would aswell.

Ah well, can't wait to move ;-)

An NTL customer service staff member said:

The NTL £35 1mb deal - is an 'Offer' price that they 'May' be extending depending on the takeup of this limited offer (till 31st Dec -If I remember).

After that time the price may go bk up to £50 a month (Which isnt that bad, but obviously aint as good as the offer!).

Just had my 1mb line installed & the engineer said that's all he's been installin pretty much since the offer came about a couple of wks bk!

Have now gladly got rid of my lagged Openworld Home adsl package, and am speedily surfing the web once again

Lets just home the price stays that low

Gotta say Blueyonder seem to be the Dogs bollox for internet service. If you can get blueyonder in your area then don't even think of going with anyone else. I think there service is flawless, Maybe you have to wait 20 mins to speak to a techie if it goes wrong, Usually it would be a problem your end tho and even then they seem to do whatever they can to talk you through it.

and 1mbit is staying at £35/m for us
