Which Scanner?

I'm looking to get a second hand (probally from somewhere like ebay) handheld scanner- I want one that will get a good range of frequencies - but have never had one before, so dont really know what im looking for.

Any help appreciated.

something that covers 100 khz to 1300 mhz would be a good starting point with as little or no gaps

i have the yupiteru 7100, covers all upto 1700mhz(ish)
a nice little bit of kit.
200 quid new about a year ago.
