    Default Monitor help

This is a totally weird one, and it really the first time ive had a problem i couldnt fix on my own pc.

Right, a few weeks ago my 19in compaq monitor blew, went bright, then started flicking on and off with no picture at all, so i got a brand new 19in hyundai monitor today, had it on about an hour and guess wot, the EXACT same thing happened to this one, starts flickering on and off, no picture.

but here is the really weird part, i borrowed 2 14in monitors from a m8 and both of them work fine with no problems at all.

so can anyone PLEASE PLEASE help and tell me what could be causing this to happen, why would it only blow the 19in monitors and not the 14in ones, if i knew what part to buy id go buy it to sort the problem but im at a total loss with this one guys

    PLEASE can anyone help

    cheers

could your power supply be faulty? spiking the power? or something near the monitor interfearing.. or even damp?

my room isnt damp m8, but it is really warm, sometimes its like a greenhouse actually, and about the power supply, ive got 2 computers and just bought a new case and all 3 are the same.

ive just never heard of a pc blowing a monitor before, it prob can happen i just never seen it.

i thought it could be the graphics card but as i say the 14in monitors work.

oh and i use a surge protector aswell, and the monitor is on the desktop on its own m8, the 2 base units are on the floor

right the compaq is a mv920, and one guy said he could fix it for 35 quid, but when i went to get it he said it couldnt be fixed, so i cant exactly sell it as it dont work, so i gave it to me m8 who just has it sittin in his hoose.

and the hyundai one, i dont think its the monitor at fault, i think summit on me pc is blowing them, although i cannot think wot.

ive just had the hyundai swapped for a brand new one, but im not gonna plug it in till i find out what wrong, 14in still works fine by the way.

    hyundai is a imagequest P910+

    cheers m8

Are you powering the monitor from your PC PSU? Try a direct lead

I thought my monitor was knacked a while back - turns out the fusebox was overheating and had half melted (it were an old one with no overload trip)

if it's that then maybe it's the 19 inch monitors pulling more power than the 14 inch ones (maybe)

Have you tried them at a friends house or at work or whatever just to check?

sounds about right m8 dunnit, 19in would pull more power than a 14in one, after they both blew i tried the compaq at a m8,s house and it didnt work, and the brand new hyundai i took it back to the shop, they then tested it and it didnt work for them either so they gave me a brand new one.

But the new one is still sitting there as im to scared to plug it in to be honest as there is no way the shop will swap it again.

so im totally at a loss and have got to put up with a 14in at the mo.

cheers for all the replies guys, if you can keep any suggestions comin id really appreciate it

have you not had a look on say an hyundai forum to see if there is a common fault with the monitor because in all honesty both monitors going duff at the same time but the 14 inch is fine sounds like coincedence to me

i would just use the new one because your gonna use it sooner or later and if it packs in in a couple of months then you have no chance of a replacement so if it IS gonna pack in rather sooner than later in my opinion

to be hgonest m8 i was thinkin the same thing, i just didnt want to accept that BOTH monitors breaking in the exact same way was a coincedence, but as you say thats the most likely.

and i never thought of even looking on a hyundai forum or site m8, thanks for the suggestion, as for using it your right again, im gonna have to sooner or later, i was just scared because this one didnt even stay on for 2 hours and it broke.

i was thinking of replacing the graphic card, but i really dont think a graphic card can blow a monitor.

oh and another thing ive only just thought of, i was using a monitor switcher box when they both broke, is there any chance the switcher box could be blowing it, obviously im not gonna use it from now on but it just got me thinking.

once again cheers for the replies.

by the way m8 i look around myself but do you know any hyundai forums.

    thanks again
