If you look at the target population, ie those who are not interested in pay TV, then it is an excellent product and I can see it taking off in a big way. Before anyone says anything, by "those who are not interested in pay TV" I do not include the people who want for nothing, what everyone else pays for, I mean the people who have never had more than the 5 terrestrial channels.

    Hi
Just spare a thought for the poor people with only 5 channels.
This service is ok for them.

I feel sorry for the folks who cannot get cable and are also not allowed to instal a dish.

If you are one of the 25% who need an ariel upgrade its cheaper to get sky and all those free shopping channels.

I think it's very good value. I'd happily pay twice as much subscription!

    @ Ricky:

Freeview isn't supposed to be a substitute for On/ITV.

There's no business model. It's just a way of getting everyone on to digital tv so eventually the analogue signals can go.

Agreed the line up is crappy compared to Sky, Cable and ITV Digital, but Sky and cable are expensive, ITV Digital have gone out of business and this is aimed at the general public that don't want pay TV. To them its a vast improvement on 5 channels and if the people that I've spoken to in the past month or so are anything to go by, it will be a popular.
