The Communications Workers Union (CWU) is in ongoing talks over pay with both O2 and BT in the UK.

Talks at Telefonica O2 UK over the introduction of an improved pay offer, as well as a pay progression scheme are said to be proceeding positively, with the company considering the union’s proposals.

The union hopes the pay offer will be more than 2 per cent.

Separately, the CWU is fighting a pay cut at BT, for the second consecutive year.

The CWU wants a 5% increase in pensionable pay and is threatening to ballot 50,000 staff over strike action.

Like O2, BT has offered a 2 per cent increase.
