Legendary DJ Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC was shot in the head and killed in a studio in Queens, New York. According to sources, Jay was shot and killed when men entered the studio he was in and shot him.
Police said that 37-year-old Jay (A.K.A. Jason Mizell) was shot and killed inside of a studio on Merrick Boulevard around 7:30 PM. A second victim was shot and killed in the leg, but that person has not been identified.
He was working on bringing out new groups and working with the Scratch Academy. This is so sad.
Run DMC were scheduled to perform Thursday (Oct. 31) as part of the half-time show at a Washington Wizards home game in Washington, D.C.
Condolences to his family, friends and fans. Another legend has left us and will be truly missed.

Jam Master Jay Funeral Tuesday
The funeral service for Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell, DJ for pioneering hip-hop group Run-D.M.C., will be held this Tuesday, November 5, at the Allen A.M.E. Cathedral, 110-31 Merrick Blvd., Saint Albans, Queens from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The wake will be held on Monday, November 4 at the Jay Foster-Phillips Funeral Home, 179-24 Linden Blvd, Saint Albans, Queens. A private viewing for family and friends will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. A public viewing will be available from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Following the funeral services Tuesday, Mizell will be buried at the Fern Crest Cemetery located at 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale, New York. Donations for the Mizell Children's Fund can be mailed to: Mizell Children's Fund, C/o Terri Corley-Mizell, P.O. Box 3497, New Hyde Park, NY 11040.
Terri Corley-Mizell, Mizell's widow, thanked friends and fans for their support. "The family of Jam Master Jay would like to thank all of Jay's wonderful friends and fans who have offered their love, support, and prayers during this time," she said in a statement.
"Jay's tragic death has left all of us numb. We pray that the person or persons responsible for taking away the breath from this loving husband and wonderful father is captured and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Jason's love, memory, and music will continue to live on through all of us."
