    Default dvdx2 loading

    Hi
I am new to the Xbox scene and I am going to fit the X-ecuter 1.1 chip tomorrow night.
I only want it at the moment to play original games, Back up games, DVD's and backup DVD's.
Can I load dvdx2 just on a CDR or do I have to load it using a PC?
Will I also have to load the new dash board as well?

    Thanks.

Burn it onto a disk mate. But just to be sure you get a good copy, use xISO to extract the files from the dvdx2 iso file then place any old file of about 25megs in with all with them and convert them back into an iso (using xISO again). The xbox can sometimes have problems reading programs smaller than 10megs. Doing this makes sure it'll work every time. Once you've burnt the disk, load it up and then when you get to the main screen, eject and place your dvd of choice (any region) into the machine and hey presto!

    Hi
    Thanks for the replys
I am strugling trying to create a xiso from dvdx2.
I have xisov073 and dvdx_v2.0.iso (This was extracted from a zip file).
If you could run me through it it would be most helpful and how to add the 25meg file.
I use Nero and windows XP or 98se ( tried both)

    Thanks.

OK, here's how i do it.
Start up xISO (it gives me some error message in spanish but it doesn't seem to matter).
In case you haven't already, change the language settings over to english. It's in one of the few options.

Click on the button called "read xiso" and browse to the dvdx2.iso file you've got. Then click "extract all" and specify the path where you want the files to be placed. Once the files have been extraced, place a file of around 25megs inside the folder. Then go back into xiso and from the drop down menus select "make an iso" and point it towards the folder containing the dvdx2 files plus your extra file. This should then make your new xiso file which can be burnt straight onto disk. I don't use Nero but i think in the file menu, there's an option saying "burn image" or something along those lines. Use this option to burn your disk. It should be burnt using mode1 2048 i believe in the options menu.
Once the disk is burnt, slap it in the xbox and check that it boots to the dvdx screen.
I'd burn onto DVD-RW first so that you make sure it all works before making coasters unneccesarily.

    Wey Hay!!!!

    Thanks for the help Neilt.
I only have a cd burner, so I have just burnt the cd-rw.

First time no go in the xbox and on the second boot its read it.
Played a bit of a region 0 disk and played ok.
Tried loading a region 2 disc next but it pixilated badly ( Thought it was bust).

Don't seem to like swapping region without re booting.
Have to use CD-RW first if I re boot.

    Thanks again for the help.
I made 4 coasters as I was closing the disc and it bombed out every time on my pc (Think burner is broke)
Tried on my laptop, after downloaded nero and with your help sorted. Burnt at 2x using a Harmonic CD-RW

    Thanks again.
