This aint a EPL v SPL debate its THE SPL IN the EPL.
    Its this simple;
    SKY contract up for renewal.
Old Firm largest fanbase in the world.
SKY say let them in or we withdraw funding.
Every club(excl.ManU)realise they would now go bust.
    Celtic and ran*ers IN.
    End of Story.

BTW- England DID NOT LOSE to Macedonia!! We drew, maybe thats not a brilliant result but if you look at the amount of times Scotland have drawn or lost to 'weaker' teams it can be excused...

Anyway- I am not here to have a go at the Scottish league and bring up the same old argument. As for the Valencia game though, have you played Valencia recently? They are one of the best teams in the world and on current form could beat anyone.....

Already covered this m8. Besides last time out we beat a team ranked higher than us - not drawing with a team 70 odd places down the rankings.

I honestly doubt that the Old Firm have a bigger fan base than the Mancs and liverpool.

Also Liverpool would not go bust, we have the richest chairman in Britian, by some way.

    End of story.

Couldnt agree more mate, Liverpool and Utd have a massive fan base, They are the most popular teams in a LOT of countries. I know a Scottish lad who has supported Man Utd (god knows why!) for all his life, and he only moved to England within the last 2 years.
I have never seen an Celtic or Rangers supporting Englishman before!!!

AND- true, Liverpool are still one of the richest clubs in the WORLD....

Oh yeah, another point: There is absolutly NO WAY Sky would threaten to withdraw funding. Not a chance. If they did that, Sky would be the only one going bust.
Whats the point in Sky with no premiership football ??? DOH!

Aberdeen's chairman is far richer than former ranger's big wig David Murray, and most probably all other clubs in Scotland - that doesn't mean a ****ing thing.

Stewart Milne is a completely tight fisted ******* who even sells our toaster to save money.

So not quite the end of the story.....

    And Hibs are owned by...

And Hibs are owned by Tom Farmer (Kwik Fit), who is probably richer than David Murray of Rangers. Shame he doesn't put any of his millions our way, but that is probably good business on his part.

I do not agree in Rangers and Celtic running off to England, but I do believe that all the clubs in Scotland and England should have the right to compete in a British League, with the champions getting promoted into the Premiership...

Apart from the Premiership, the English and Scottish leagues are useless, and they need to be radically reinvented so as to maintain any form of spectator interest.

    IMHO

Nookie - Chill out... I was only saying 'end of story' because Beekae wrote the above - I was not getting into a 'my chairmans richer than your chairman' arguement. I was just trying to explain that Liverpool, not being a PLC would not really be in too much trouble.

Sorry m8 - I almost forgot the title of the thread. It has just turned into another classic 'EPL v SPL' thread..

    I really miss these arguements.

SKY threatening to pull out, would be the ultimate threat.
I'm not suggesting they actually would, but there is NO way you can tell me that all clubs in the EPL(MU excl.) could continue to pay the salaries ,never mind the transfer fees that they presently do.
There then is a glut of players for sale by desperate clubs, who are living well outwith their means on artificial revenue.
Rich chairmen are one thing, but they became rich by being good businessmen, and dont go throwing good money after bad.
We should know,we fell out with SKY last season, and are now in a worse state than ever.
Celtic and ran*ers DO have the largest fanbase in the world(poss. exception of ManU,again !!).
Money talks...the game doesnt belong to us anymore, our gate money means very little.
It belongs to TV,its their ball, and they aint giving it back.

I still am sure that neither of the old firm have a larger fan base than Liverpool or Man U.

Man Utd Are the biggest sporting club in the world mate and will never need to worry about money.

more fan sites, members and waiting list for old trafford , ask any person in the world "name a football club?" they will 90% say Man utd and some cases Liverpool, Not Celtic or Rangers for god sake.

Just remember its Celtic and Rangers who have ruined Scottish football and the international team, with in the Old firm games now having about 2 scottish players playing, its a joke.

If u had read my last post,u would see that I exclude Man U twice from this discussion.
The Old Firm didnt ruin Scottish football, the SFA did, through lack of foresight and investment.
They buy foreigners IF they cant find a suitable Scottish player, hence in the current climate...we have plenty foreigners.
Considering our population is less than a fifth of yours,it surely follows that we have far less choice of national players than yourselves.
I dont see 5 times as many eng*ish players in your sides.
    People in glass houses.........hmmm:bleh:

Heh, thought id bring my size 10s in

Firstly, I would be 'a celtic supporting english man' and i know plenty of other loyal fans, that fill a coach from stoke every home game.

Ok i dont make many games but i get up there when i can, but given that i now live on the south coast, its not very often.

Celtic are an excellent side, worthy of the premiership even if they arent the best side there, at least then there would be some real competition there, and give them, and the ibrox c***s some room to improve

    Hail Hail
