external sound

i'm pulling my hair out here, does anyone know of an external sound card except the creative extidgy for £150rrp which is far to expensive.In case your wondering it's for a laptop that has soft sound that has a noisy mic channel.

The extidgy is a usb device,surely some one out there makes something similar for less dosh.

are you looking for an external sound card or for external sound (not the built in speakers)
microsoft used to do a pair of usb digital speakers for around 80 / 90 quid if thats what your looking for no sound card is needed for those it's all done by the electronics in the speaker

ur kinda stuck extigy as fr as i know is the only card with an external drive system(external being they connectors, there still is a sound card that connects to the PCI bus)

sorted found a couple of options from dolphinmusic and another from i-bkm.com,all under 100 quid.
