the box dvd rom

Why does this not like any old media? Is it the rom itself or is there somet in the box to stop it?

I know this might be a daft question but.. If it was the laser could you swap this with a better one which would read all the media?

and another just before i go, when you put the iso on to cdrw why is it jerky and so is the volume.

cos most xbox's don't like cdrw, best sticking with dvdr/rw even if it will fit on a cdrw
