Just got a DVD Burner

I just got a Memorex DVD+R/W
I know, it's not an A04 but should work right?


Does anybody have a link for tutorials on how to
you know.............

it's not as simple as macking a 1:1 backup.

I have to make an iso right?

I tried xiso and having some trouble.

are you trying to burn games you have downloaded m8, or are you trying to backup your original games.

please giz a bit more info and maybe we can help a bit more

if your trying to backup an original disc then stop now m8you cant make a 1.1 backup of your original games unless you use evolution-x, im sure you already know this just thought id say anyway just in case.

so can you give us a bit more info on the way you are trying to do it m8

I'm trying to backup an original.

I've gotten as far as connecting my xbox to the pc and
transfering all the game files with flshfxp.

Can I just burn it all on a dvd or do I still have to create an iso?

I made an iso with xiso but when i try to burn the image
(with NERO) I get an error that says, the image is more
than 2gb.....

something like that.

right m8, you dont have to make an iso, just drag and drop all the files into primo dvd and burn as a data disc.

before you burn it go to recording options and choose up to 128 in filename length.

that it m8 really just burn to dvdr

no probs m8, primo should work no probs at all

and fugazi m8 means totally f ucked up remember a band called Marillion, well Fugazi was one of thier songs (very cool song aswell)

oh and by the way m8, if you get the latest version of nero, or a pretty up to date one, then it should do isos over 2 gig m8 no probs, also dont forget if your usinf fat32 file system on your pc then you cannot burn files over 4 gig in size, to do this you NEED to use the NTFS file system m8

freaky, I have a problem.

I just tried to burn a backup of Hitman2.
Loaded all files on NERO. Everithing went ok.
But, the game will not load.
I have an x-ecutor mod installed.
I know it can read DVD+R media because I tried
loading the evolutionX dash with the DVDR media.

Is there a special way I'm supposed to load the game?

Are you burning these DVD's in mode 1 and with the option set to UDF up to 128 plus 8+3 ? This is needed to get them to work - I recommend primo 2 personally but I understand nero works also.

Guys, I wanna thank you for the help.
I'm working on getting this PrimoDVD software.
But at the moment I'm still trying NERO.

Here are some questions that some people asked me @ another forum.

Ok first you need to provide us w/ some info:
1) have you installed Evolution-X dash on your HD?
2) Are you using the same brand media for your backup that you used w/ your EvolutionX-Dash? (important)
3) What program did you use to burn the ISO or backup the Game?
4) Are you getting a "this format is unreadable message" on when you try to boot the game or a black screen?
5) When you backed up the original did you FTP the files from your Xbox? If so how did the directory look when you burned it?
6) What program are you using to burn the backup? What settings is the file format in?

Once we have a clue we'll be able to help...I'm sure.

3) I used NERO, tried both - 3a. made iso w/ xico 3b. just dragged all files that i copied from the xbox d:

4) when I try to load the finished product, the xbox pauses for a while then just goes back to the evolution-x screen.

5) I just drag and dropped the files in the same order I copied them. (using flashfxp)

6) NERO, using DVD (iso)

What an I doing wrong?

maybe all the files are not transfering across to your pc from your xbox m8, there is another post about this on this forum have a look on how to check if they are ALL getting across.

listen m8 if you want primo dvd just pm me your email address and ill send it to you, maybe you will have more luck with that

forgot to ask m8, how many games have you tried

and why dont you use a rewritable cd m8, this will save you lots of coasters

I'm happy to report that I successfully backed-up
2 games last night.

Hitman2 & Bruce Lee.

I guess it was NERO. I used record now and all is good.
I tried Primo but it would not recogniza my DVD+R.

Two things I learned from this experiance:

1) When I made an ISO with Xiso the first time (did not work)
I did not get the image created successfully window.

2) On Bruce Lee, when all files were extracted from the Xbox D:
Flashfxp said - 5 files failed to transfer. The game works but
all the letters (e.g. "PUSH START") are blue blocks. You cant
read them. Guess those are part of the 5 files that did not
transfer.

no probs m8, glad to hear you got it working in the end, i said some of the files might not have transfered across didnt i.

oh by the way m8, you prob dont want it now youve got a program that works, but you can get an update for primo that MIGHT make it recognise your drive, some people have had it work for them on here, wont recognise drive untill they apply the update then it was fine.

as i said tho, if this program works for you then stick to it m8, great feeling when you have success after so many failures aint it

Ohh yes! I feel good

I saw on another post how you can check the size of
a folder when using flashfxp. Just didn't see anything about
what you can do about it.

I'm sure it would help fix the letters I can't read on Bruce Lee.

actually m8 the offical link for the update isnt there anymore, but it probably is the same one as there is only 1 anyway.

as for the few files that didnt get across, there is nothing you can do about it really m8 apart from try thos files again, thats why i said use a rewritabl disc to save on coasters

I had a trial version I d/l of flashfxp.
It would stop when it came across a file it could not down load.
I deleted it, I think I want it back now.
On Bruce Lee it stoped on a specific .wav file.
I had to continue transfering where it left off.
I thought that was one of my problems, but it looks like
it was just NERO. This might be the way to fix the letters
I can't see when I play the game.

wish I had more time tonight but I have to keep a relationship
with the little lady. :signs:
