god damn it.. was writing a review and pc crashed, lost it all

anyhow.. was just sayin the site is very good presume its not ur first, and only thing wrong is that all yer content is missin, but i presume ull get that added in time.. er.. thats it.. dunno what u expected tho, u obviously know its good as it is, not much u can do to it..

i dont like flash... damn stuff always causes me probs.. but thats just me :

just a few things I wanted to ask, I need firstly to protect whole site with some kind of password protection, and I also need to password protect some of the links, how would I go about doing this?

then last but not least, as u can I have a link called BBoard I want to intergrate some kind of simple (pref freeware) bullitn board or forum, any ideas to which direction I could use here.

sorry m8, ive got no idea bout the password protection, ive never done that kinda thing..

the board however, u could just do a direct link to an EZboard or sommat ( http://www.ezboard.com/ ) thats free, dunno bout integrating that kinda thing tho.. dunno if ud have to do it as a whole seperate link type thing but that would take u off of ur site.. dont know if ur that bothered, or wether u'd wish surfers to stay on ur site...

thats some pretty advanced crap ur doin.. but maybe Czarjunkie will give ya some advice, then again he may know jack about it too.. ill pm him and tell him to have a look at this

An intranet is by definition surely an "internal" affair...if it is on the internet it ain't....it's an extranet....

And if all it is is forums then it ain't even an extranet.....

An extranet/intranet usually contains things like holiday booking, expenses, tiume sheets, standard templates, financials, etc...

On the back of Intranet/Extranet development for the company I was working for they saved £7.5m year on year in running costs in a £30m pa turnover company.

And as a result I was headhunted to work on behalf of HM Gov.

but as he said this is merely a test site(on the internet for peeps to look at and test)... and as yet is not actually on an intranet.. but will be eventually.. hence all the sample text n shit on he main page...

so instead of trying to give useful comment on the site, u were pointing out a blaringly obvious fact that its clearly not on an intranet...

OK then....what's the point of a series of pages that look like a normal "brochure" site to an internal set of viewers?

What added value does such a series of pages bring to a company.

The forums are transient, but unless the pages help the company reduce costs through being more effective what's the point?

All the page i am doing for this site WILL be of USE to the compny. In most cases the intranet is there to improve communication between staff.

Jesus I was only asking for opin on my site not a bloody lecture.

seeing as u will be hosting it local us cud easily password different areas using asp (im guessing you will be hosting it on a windows box)

there are many straightforward tutes on sites such as :

mmm decided to put pages in different folders with diff permissions (active Directory) so diff ppl will have dff permissions.
