Default 1 night "Stopover" Hotel in South of France needed

I'm driving down to the South of France for a fortnight's holiday in a few weeks time, staying near Perpignon.

We've got an early morning crossing booked and are planning to get just south of Lyon (on E15) before stopping for the night and continuing on the following day.

Anyone any experience of hotels in that neck of the woods? or any advice/recommendations for where to stay/not to stay?

Ideally we'd like somewhere not too far off the motorway so we can just stop, grab a meal and as much sleep as possible, but leaving the car packed so a hotel with a decent car-park/security is a must have.

If you're just after a bed for the night, there will be a local formule 1 or premiere eclasse which cost around 25 euro a night. For a slight step up there is the Hotel Campanile at around 40 euro. All should be nearby.

Thanks DJ - we did consider that, but it's well over 600 miles from the port, and would probably end up being far too late when we got there to grab anything to eat - I was thinking of stopping somewhere between Lyon and Valence or that neck of the woods

Yeah during the trip I made, where by stopping at that hotel I linked, we stayed in the Ibis hotels. About 2 or 3 in total. Some were really good, of high enough standard, and had some great restaurants in them too.

The chain that Formule 1 and Ibis are both belong to is called Accor. Maybe worth checking their hotels are in relation to where you want to go. Pre-book should save you a few quid too.
