Which Broadband Should I Get?

I can either get....

1. Telewest Blueyonder - 512k - £30
2. Bt OpenWorld Adsl - 512k - £27

Which one gets faster download speeds?
Can anyone help me out.

Both will be around the same download speeds, adsl has a higher upload speed (256kbit/s). People report that ping times are less on cable than adsl. However, spend a bit more and you can pick up a 1mbit cable connection which is 2x faster than adsl is.

Another point is cost, you can get an adsl connection a lot cheaper (if you already have a bt line paid for and don't need to figure it in the costs.

And finally, don't go with btopenworld for adsl, there are a lot of other cheaper/better providers out there see www.adslguide.org.uk for lists.

I've just ordered PIPEX. So I hope they're ok.
Looking at ADSLguide.co.uk, ZEN seem to be ok, although a little more expensive.

Where can I get the 1mbit for 30 quid? Is that without subscribing to anything else? I thought it was £40
