    internet connection

This problem is driving me crazy.

Every time my PC boots up (Windows ME) the last thing to happen is the 'Connect to Internet' panel comes on, I have to cancel it to work off line.

I have checked all the startup areas and the MSconfig and still no clue as to why it comes up. I did a CNTL ALT DEL and it shows
'Explorer' then 'Connect to', plus other stuff.

Can any one help, Ill try your suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

well if uve checked all the msconfig it should tell u what programs are booting on start up....

im talking about firewalls... ftp software, IE, OE... could be anything that asks for a net connection... just check them all...

and if they're are any, stop them loading on startup, or refuse them internet access with a firewall, or check their internal settings to stop them loading on startup, or dialing for net access on their own...

I have un checked all the start up programs using MS Config and the internet connection still comes up. Is there any thing else I can do to track the source down.

Ok try going to control panel then open "internet options" go to connections tab above.... then hit "settings " By dialup settings at bottom hit properties then go to "dialing Tab " look to see if "Dial When ever a conection not present " is checked if so remove it " that will stop it
