Default Funcard and Magic Module ...

After several years using goldwafers, I finally decided to get hold of a Funcard and a 'Magic' CAM. Using an Elvis Programmer and a Multiprogrammer, I have been trying all night to get the bl**dy thing to decode something - anything!

I have tried any number of files, 6 in 1; 5 in 1 etc etc.

Would some patient soul please answer the following points for me:

    1) Do I need both an internal and an external eeprom file to programme the card. If so, then this may be the problem. The files I have seen either include the Flash file only, or the Flash file plus one (external) eeprom file. If I need an internal eeprom file, where do I find this?

    2) According to my Receiver, the Magic Module is a 'Pentacrypt 1.05'. Is this what I should expect it to be? If I then press Card Info, it identifies the card as 'Irdeto/Beta, CryptoID=0602'. Does this give any clue as to whether it has been programmed OK?

    3) Er ....

    4) That's it.

    Thanks for listening.

    OK - I've been stupid.

The card works fine. I did what I should have done hours ago - tried it in an Irdeto Cam. In the Cam, all Irdeto programmes come through quickly and clear.

So it's the bl**dy Magic module then!

Has anyone else here used a magic module successfully? Any suggestions (polite ones if possible).

    Thanks - I'll try that.

Unfortunately the serial leads I have tried don't seem to work. They obviously aren't 'null modem' ones. Any idea where I can get a LONG null modem lead (1 metre plus)?

Thanks for that link. I was worried when I read your posting, as I have tried without success to use the serial lead which is connected to my programmer - but the site suggests that a 9 pin connected lead is required and says that most leads have only five pins connected.

I have now ordered both a null-modem lead (which will be redundant by the look of it) AND a 9-pin connected serial lead.

The other thing that worries me is that Hisat say that the 1.3 version (which I have) may not work. They are waiting for a supply of 2.0 hardware cams. Is anyone able to clarify the poistion?

You will be better with Pent 1.09 software and it must be a serial lead, it only uses pins 2, 3 and 5 see http://www.matrixcam.com/faqs.htm for the full details. Matrix Cam and Magic Cam are the same
Note the fun file thats the best to load for the Magic / Matrix cam is the fun_6in1_humax_nokia_hyundai_2112.zip this supports the Matrix cam.
You just use the 2 files:
    Code File: Fun_6in1_AT90S8515_V4.30.hex
    Data File: NOT USED
    Eeprom file: Fun_6in1+_24C64_Humax_Nokia_2412a.hex

It works ok with my Matrix cam with Penta 1.09 and the fun card with a echostar DSB 808

Hope this helps, oh and you can get a serial cable from PC world or any computer shop.
