They shall grow not old....as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
we will remember them

I will not:shock:
Allow me to explain.
During WWII my Grandfather was in the RAF after he was injured in Italy he was moved back to this country and his job was to ensure that every one who lost there life in the RAF was given a proper millitay funeral. He did this for 7years (obviously a lot less when the war was over).
When he died of a heart attack (about 10years ago now I think) he had a standard funeral, orgainised by the family obviously, but thats not what pissed me off. Its that not one sodding member of the RAF contacted my Grandmother let alone turned up for the funeral.
The poppy has become a sybol of those who lost there life at war. Why should we honour those who died during in the war but not those who fought just as hard but died later, infact Remeberance Sunday should be about all who fought or took an active role to help us win the war, dead or alive.
I don't hold it against anyone who does choose to wear a poppy.
I will donate money to collecters for 11/11and I will observe the 2 minute silence this sunday.
All sweeping statements are wrong.
If you choose not to wear one so be it but i wear mine not only for those that have fallen and forfeited their livesOriginally posted by Cenus_

I wear mine in pride for my grandfather who fought in the 1st world war was injured and gassed but survived and was highly decorated for his heroic actions he died in 1969 i like to think im taking his place
on Sunday when i stand with others wearing my poppy and its my grandfather and all the old boys who ive watched diminish over the years that ill be thinking of but also aware of the many
young soldiers who've died fighting for this nation....
Such a high price to pay and they deservedly get my respect
