    Default Managing Music Library

My MP3 collection, although relatively small compared to most, is bit of a mess and I've decided to clean it up. I used to use SmartMP3Renamer, but that was years ago.

I just want to get the Album information from the Internet, download the title tracks and auto rename them.

Other than Media Player, what software is good to do it?

I thought iTunes built a hidden library of it's own, copies your MP3's and stashes them in there.

Are you saying I can use it to edit my MP3's in their location rather than the \Music\iTunes Library folder?

It wont rename files using the ID Tags either will it?

Digging a thread up from the dead but try musicbrainz. It takes a bit of getting used to but can lookup data based on what info your file does have or it can actually scan the file and check it against the database (think Shazam). This means you can have 10 files named untitled with no tag information and it can possibly tag and rename the whole thing perfectly.

I have in the past used Tag&Rename to sort out all 200Gb of my music collection. The features are the nuts.

Scanning CDDB/Gracenote & Amazon, cover downloads from Amazon & batch editing.

I gave up worrying about it...

Too many tunes, too many that no shazam or similar will ever identify.

    Just me tho...

I now use Media Monkey. Excellent bit of software. Great for Libraries over networks too!

Do I need the pro version? Or does the free version work just as well? I'm not going to use it to burn cds.

Yeah, sorry. I mean with MediaMonkey. Does the free version come with everything I need to organise and populate the covers with? Or do I need the full version?

The free service should do everything I think. Simply select an album, right click and select autotag from the web and it will start searching for info and artwork for which you can then automatically tag the info to each mp3. You can also do the info manually.
