Can somebody pls help me fix my 8850

Guys can someone pls help out. My 8850 was working ok till I did the following:

    1) Restored my phone book using a logomanager file (from a 6210)
    2) Acivated my line two by selecting CSP override and ALS on NKProfile.
    3) I opened up the phone and cleaned it with cotton buds and white spirit.

Now, the reception cuts out 80% of the time I try to make a call or send a text. Receiving calls is ok tho.
Believe or not the phone IS still in warranty, but I took it to a Nokia service centre today and they are refusing to do anything with it cos they reckon the reception probs r being caused cos the phone has been dropped a fair bit and the casing is damaged. I know this isn't true cos it was working fine yesterday, and there is no problem receiving calls or texts.

Does anyone have any ideas what can be done? The firmware is v5.29. I'm really pissed off that it seems like I've caused this all myself.

Desperate for any help.... would a software upgrade work? I have flasher cables.

    Thanks for any advice.

(P.S. Sorry to those that have already read this- had to post it again in my own thread so it'd get noticed properly)

m8, if the phone is under warranty then it is under warranty and they should repair. When you opened the phone up did you have to break any seals which shows them that it has been opened?

If not, then I would seriously have a go at them - they have no right in telling you that due to the condition of the phone they can not repair it. If you dont get any where with that then go to another CPW and try it there.

The signal problem is common on Nokia phones so you might not have even done it!:rolls:

Hi thanks for replyin. No, nothing to show that i've opened it.
I'll try again, but it really seems that the logomanager restore ****ed the phone up, anyone know what's gone on?

    Hi,

If any of them were to cause the bad signal, it would have ben opening it up and putting it back together. Not very likely though unless you done it wrong, or you dropped something on the way.
Personally I agree with the Service Centre, dropping the phone loads is usually what causes it. Done it myself on 3 of my 8850's, lol

However, I've never had them refuse to fix it, so long as it's in warranty. They can refuse water damaged phones, and possibly dropped phones, although I've never heard them moan.

Try again. If all else fails, I guess a pro with a hot air rework station could sort it.

Ps, Software can be upgraded using correct flash files and ROlis Flasher.

    Regards

    Hi,

All you need to update the software is available at www.cubwolf.co.uk -- You want the software (MCU and PPM to do the upgrade. There's also a guide on how to do it there.

Upgraded the software didn't really help!!!
Gonna put my original software back on so I can take it to another repair centre.

I took a backup using Rolis 4.78 as per the guide. What I need to know is what should my start address be when flashing my original backup back to the phone? 200000 or 3D0000???
