Hi all,

I am always in charge of doing the sweeps in the office and for the world cup this year I thought I would make it a little more interesting.

Attached is a zip file containing an executable and a folder with icons in it.
Simply run the executable (requires .net Framework 2.0 but most of you will have that with Windows), enter the 32 names and hit the 'Go!' button. Once it has completed it will create a file WorldCup_Sweep_2010.txt which will contain the name of the person and the Team they have won.

It takes a couple of minutes to complete, basically I have set it to around 5 seconds between per random pick to generate an element of suspense

The idea in my office is to get a number of people interested and then next friday before the first game I will hook the laptop up to the Plasma in reception and generate the choices.

I hope it comes in useful for someone and it is not too late.

If folk can let me know the thoughts. I have the code and will be playing on this each year and making it configurable depending on the sporting event. (Wimbledon, Grand national etc..)

I'll probably use this mate, thanks. Any chance you could put a box/slider for the timer between selections. I like the idea of the pause but my mates may not!

Also, another suggestion but I guess it would be harder would be some sort of text (ideally spreadsheet format) output. I'm probably going to do the draw 7th June next week so please make all of my amendments by then! Ha, only kidding, nice one for uppin' it in the first place.

On a separate note, can I output this video in a web chat client (ideally with a chat box). Just think it would be a good way for all of my mates to see the draw live without being in the same place.

Users of superior operating systems: It works fine on Linux too (ish, there are some issues with the Window fitting on the screen)

I despise the world cup but good job, looks good. Remember to release the sourcecode when you are done with it

I can make a slider yes, also i can make it output to a .csv that will open fofmated in excel

I also intend to read the outputted file so you can open to see the selections.

See update above, added a slider for the frequency of the selections (can be changed on the fly) and also a choice of file types it creates (.txt or a .csv for Excel)

I know it starts this week and most people have probably done their Sweeps, but I have made a couple of tweaks again to lock down the controls and the boxes where names are entered so no cheating can take place after the draw has been done

At the moment the teams are hard coded... I could hard code the seeding if you tell me who you would like seeded from 1 (favorite) to 32 (New Zeland)

OK, made the change with seedings as per SkyBet

Run it to see, North Korea is actually 32 and not New Zealand.
