Just seen this on Eurosport and the crash is pretty nasty.
Absolutely gutted that his season is over.

What a shame. Rossi is an absoloute legend & probobally the main reason I watch motogp.
Can't help but think he might be back quicker than thought tho. Seem to remember a few riders in the past riding with broken limbs.
I'm gutted, just found out. Lorenzo will walk the title now, hope Pedrosa can put up a bit of a fight to make the season interesting.
CCTV of the crash here.

The Doctor finishing his season with many visits to his namesake. Fucking shame.
after watching the vid, why did he crash did the bike fail or was it rider error?

The back end kicks out and he gets high sided, i doubt that it was rider error or even a bike fault, they tend to stop rather than accelerate.
It looks like he may have touched some oil or something the way it stepped out on him.
Very sad news, i do not watch it any more but i think that it will make the viewing figures drop because he is definitely the best thing to watch....
The tyres need to be at 80C for optimum grip. Apparently Rossi slowed down quite a lot in the 3rd section of the lap to try to get a clear track in front of him so he could try to put in a fast lap. This made the tyre lose heat and as he entered the chicane the back tyre lost grip causing the wheel to spin up and thus causing a highside. He landed hard on his right leg and broke the shin bone.
It's the first race he has missed in 14 years so the luck had to run out eventually.
Hope he gets back soon, Moto GP authorities and the tracks must be well gutted as Rossi is the biggest draw in the sport by a looooong way.

The tyre is under invesigative scrutiny by bridgestone after checking the telemetry there didnt seem to be any other explanation. It was a compund fracture I believe, that man must have the highest pain threshold of anyone I know and to see his face wincing like he was, must have been a bad un. I dont doubt that Vale could make it back in as little as 3 or 4 weeks but personally I think him being him he will want it to be right as he hates to make excuses for not being 100%
There will have to be a replacement rider soon though as you can only miss 3 races in a season before they have to bring someone in as its against the rules for a factory to run 1 bike. Would have liked it to be spies but the new rules state that he cant do it as he's a rookie. The rumors are that Colin Edwards will step up but the pronlem there is he is not contracted to Yamaha he is contracted to Hervey Poncheral....so we'd have to see how that one pans out, Personally I would love to see Cal Crutchlow from WSB step in but that aint gonna happen either as so I'd settle for JT I know Toseland didnt do great in MotoGP when he was there but it would be awsome to see a Brit on Rossi's bike. Failing that Troy Bayliss would be an interesting choice.
If they put Toseland on Rossi's bike i would definately get tickets for Silverstone
Well and truely gutted when I found this out. Got tickets & flights, etc all booked for the Catalunya MotoGP on the 4th of July.
Would LOVE IT if Rossi was back riding by then, but we'll have to wait & see. My first ever MotoGP race, and specifically wanted to see Rossi riding, but that might not happen now!
Even have a hand signed cap (see avatar) that my brother managed to get me from the Mugello MotoGP a couple of years ago.
Rossi is back!
Cant believe this but he's back for this weekends race at Sachsenring.

If there's one person who could snatch the title back it's Rossi.
Would be absoloutely brilliant if he did Lorenzo is a brilliant rider no doubt but he's a cocky cunt
There's no way Rossi can win the title. He's 104 points behind Lorenzo. He'd have to win every race and hope Lorenzo misses out on points in 3-4 races.
Glad he's back, hope it is not too early for him physically.

I normally hate that camera that looks up the riders arse, but those lean angles are amazing
I love the way that he gets off the bike and is handed a crutch...!
The man is an absoloute legend! How he managed to do so well last night round that really physical track is beyond me. He looked fucked in the interview after tho
