Default remove the reader and replace it by a pioneer 104s without yellow cables

    hi,

for those of you who remember the jap psx scene time, you already know me.

i found out today that you could remove your original reader and replace it without the need to mod and solder the yellow cables into the pc drive.

    this is simple, i use a evo2.5 bios(no mod) and a pioneer reader 104s 2.06 , evox 1.8.2812 installed as dashboard.

i discovered that when a game launched without a copy in the original reader, i tried removing the yellow cables and it works.

i just tested it on a flashed xbox with xtender bios , pioneer 106s and it works to, wich means the common point is the evox 1.8.2812.

i suggest you to try and post your comments here.

I can confirm that this works with my xbox too. I have the same evox dash, but I'm using an enigmah final instead of the evox bios. The dvd reader I used was a pioneer 116, and games work fine with the yellow power cable disconnected from the xbox dvd rom drive.

this is old news aint it or am i missing something ??

The new drive is faster, will read cdr's but will not read original games or dvd movies (unless dvd-x v2 is used)

It works with practically every dvd rom drive AFAIK
