Bunch of fuckers! People moan about how certain things should be free to air - well this just goes to prove it bloody well shouldn't be. Put the fucking World Cup on Sky, let us bloody choose who we want to watch the match with, I'd take Sky every day over ITV or BBC.

Not a cat in hells chance of it happening and its probably barking to say but I say let Sky bid for the World Cup on the basis that Sky must make the games free to view for people without a Sky Sports subscription if they win. I know it limits people who don't have a satellite setup at all but in this day and age of Digital TV, Sky could quite easily broadcast on Freeview (i.e. show games on Sky Sports News) with it simulcast on Sky Sports HD. The BBC could continue with their coverage if they outbid ITV and it's a win win situation for Sky as it would act as a showcase for Sky Sports with all of the interactive features and the like.

The way the World Cup is allocated to broadcasters is a bit of a joke - BBC and ITV do not have to compete, they can effectively rake in the viewing figures (and in the case of ITV the lucrative advertising) without really having to justify why they are better than anyone else. It's about time we had some choice.
