App Idea

I have an idea for an app - but have no idea where to start in terms of whether my idea could be possibly turned into a reality.

Hi mate,

I assume your talking for iphone? if so the first 2 things you need are a MAC (for development) and an iPhone (for testing).

If you have an idea you can hire devs from India to write it for you and they are apparantly quite cheap - depends if you want to invest time/money in hardware or just tell someone what to do. I'm sure there are some websites out there that people advertise their skills on.

If you want to go down the development route you can install hackintosh on a VMWare session and it should be good enough for the SDK.

Thanks for the replies. I wouldn't be able to do this meself, so the India route (or maybe South African?) would be better.

In terms of the idea - would it be a good idea to patent it, in case it gets stolen by the developer?

I think that the Indian devs are cheaper and the standard of their work is supposed to be excellent.

With regards to patenting the software I couldn't answer. You could try the legal section.
