I need some inspiration.....

Ok I didnt know wether this should be posted in the travel section, as techincally it isnt about where im going that I need a "unique" idea when i get there.

Basically on the 26th december ill be taking the girl ive been seeing to Paris, as thats the day we started seeing each other last year. Going to do all the touristy things, stay in a small quaint french hotel, romantic dinner etc etc etc. but...

i know she has done all this with her ex, who she broke up with last year, and although she is over him, he was her first love, and i know nothing can compare to that - and i wouldnt even try to. But I want to do something unique while im there for her, so that this isnt just another "trip to paris with the guy she is seeing". I aint gonna propose so dont suggest that, WAY toooo soon. lol

Unique ideas, like picnic in the snow at the Arc de triumph, something that when we look back at it, will put a smile on her face etc. So let the brainstorming commence!

You say that nothing can compare to her first love etc, but surely you're putting yourself in that very position?
If you're comfortable enough with the ghost of this ex, then fine, but if there's even the slightest nagging doubt in your mind, then I reckon you'd be better doing things that aren't going to remind her (or you) of the past.
Paris is full of things to do, boat trip down the seine, Louvre etc etc, Perhaps look at what she hasn't done and build from there

i took my ex to paris at christmas time, year before last. Maybe the same girl lol? It's rubbish in the winter mate, way too cold, can't see shit from the eiffel tower. The worst thing is the price of drinks though. Cheapest pint I had was 6.5 euros, and that was happy hour.

Personally I wouldn't have taken her to Paris ..but as the flights are already booked, why not travel outside Paris once you get there? There are plenty of quaint villages etc within a short distance of Paris where you could make your own memories?

I went to Paris for a weekend and spent more money than I have on most 2 week holidays I have been on. Prices are scandalous over there. Can't see the logic in taking her somewhere where she will have fond memories of her ex you are just asking for trouble. Cancel the flights without telling her and take her off to Venice or Rome instead. Imagine her surprise when you get to the airport hopefully it will be a positive one ! Then when you get there do her up the wrong end on the back of a Gondola

just look up some trips and stuff for when you are there, take her out for a nice meal etc. but put some thought into where you are taking her, take her to the little quaint places rather than the standard - oh went paris, went here sort of thing, its your Mrs mate so only you will know what she likes, doesnt have to be that expensive (well for paris anyway) just look up some places before hand and find where people recommend who have been there, loads of places to eat out and go out are reviewed online

Taking your girl to Paris is so cliched. No wonder she binned the other bloke, he showed a total lack of imagination and you're making the same mistake. Barcelona would have been a much better choice, especially in December as the weather would have been much milder. Paris is the worst thing about France, the cultural highlights are worth seeing but not if you have to put up with Parisienne hospitality.

I like the description 'small quaint french hotel', does that translate as 'cheap, but the best I could afford'?

lol im looking into cancelling the flights and taking her to rome instead, costs the same amount but it will be so much better.
