    Good job man

How about the rest of you? Managed to get yourselves up in the air yet?

I've been perusing some FSX websites for add-ons and stumbled across something called FS Passengers X. I'm just about to install it after finding it from the usual source. Here's the bumf,

FsPassengers will completely revolutionize Microsoft Flight Simulator. Here are just some of the features of FsPassengers :

    • Add passengers to your flights! Finally, you're not alone in the sky.
    • Passengers react to how you fly your plane. Hear them scream if you make drastic mistakes, and get their opinion of your flight in real time.
    • Provide in-flight passenger services such as movies, music, and drinks.
    • Make money for successful flights; be fined if you do something wrong.
    • Manage an airline (make money, manage aircraft fleets, etc).
    • Maintain your aircraft in good condition, otherwise you may experience unique and suprising failures.
    • Create and maintain pilot careers.
    • Keep detailed logs and statistics for every flight you make (great for virtual airlines).
    • Fly through dangerous parts of the world, and risk the safety of your plane, crew, or passengers!
    • Export your flight to your Virtual Airline.
    • This add-on includes more than 200 in-flight sounds to immerse you in the ambiance of flight. Hear feedback from your co-pilot, flight attendants, passengers; listen to ATC chatter, music, GPWS, and more.
    • All screens and reports work in full screen. No need to quit FS.

Will let you know what I think after a play but it sounds like it could give FSX a whole new life span.

I know this game has a very "anorak" kinda vibe associated with it, but I always wanted to give it a go and don't know why!?
I also used to love Tokyo Bus Tour on PS2 which was basically being a bus driver, sticking to the right lane, indicating, closing doors etc... all very anal lol!

Anyway, is this game playable without a proper flight joystick?
What actually *is* the game...are there missions, career as a pilot working for various airlines etc?
    Does this game support SLi?

I've heard this game is very hardware intensive, so how would this run on:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66Ghz
3gb RAM (4gb but running XP)
    2 x GeForce 9600GT 512MB (Running in SLi)

    Keep the pics coming!

PS. Is there anyone reading this thread that has played ATC Simulator 2...?
You basically play a Air Traffic Controller and use your voice to command the game, change altitude etc.
I could never get it working when I tried but it sounded quite cool..

I'm playing the game with a Xbox 360 controller. It does everything you need to fly the plane but you do need the keyboard for a few commands, nothing too difficult though. The default Xbox controls are very intuitive and everything feels in the right place.

The graphics settings are fully customisable, there's tons of options that let you increase the power/performance ratio so I think you could get this to run at a reasonable frame rate even with a slightly older system.

Oh and I just tried my first flight with FS Passengers...here's my report

    Accident Report:

The aircraft crashed at 08h25 hitting ground at 62 kt with a vert. speed of -1126 ft/m.
According to the black-box we deduce the following: You forgot to close the cabin doors before departure...This doesn't seem to be the root cause of the incident, however it was a contributing factor. The Captain has declared an emergency before the crash.

    Casualties:
    -2 passengers aboard
    0 killed
    1 injured
    -Pilot injured

    Buhahahahahahha!!!

Sounds good, you recommend it then?

rIKmAN - I use a Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold joystick ... I got it on Gumtree for a tenner but I've seen it selling for less including delivery on eBay. Highly recommend it too... having good controls as a first time user plays a big part in your initial thoughts of the game.

I have an old standard stick out in the shed, nothing fancy but its a flight stick of some sort, I'll dig it out tomorrow and see if it'll be any use.

    NZBs on the way

I started a new game because to heal my pilot would have cost just above $4,000,000 and my company only had a balance of $150,000. The plane was written off too

Go for it bro, it's only a small add-on, 85Mb and you wont even notice it's installed unless you want to use it. It hides in the menu-bar at the top of the screen during flights.

You start off creating a company, a pilot (who starts off only with a basic license to fly single engine prop planes). You then chose the scenario you want for your company, I chose the first one.
    information

    Information

    Bush Flying Career:

    Description:
You will have enough cash to only buy one light plane and your pilot will not be certified to fly anything other than GA (General Aviation) aircraft. Your goal is to get at least one pilot to be certified for a jet. You must then increase your fleet until you have enough money to buy a heavy aircraft like a 747 for example. Be warned that this can be a long process (there may be 170 hours of flight involved to reach this goal). You will win the game if you have at least one aircraft that weighs 120 ton (777 or 747 for example) and make one flight with it

    Company settings:
    Difficulty: very hard
Economic management: yes (you must buy aircraft)
    Fleet income: yes
Pilot Career mode: yes (pilot rank limit aircraft type)
    Instant Record of flight: no
    Start cash: $500,000
    Start reputation: 65%
    Fixed failure percentage: 5%
Fixed failure level: Easy to hard failures

-If you win or fail this game you'll have the generic splash image.

    Victory condition:
    Number of aircraft: 1
That weighs at least: 264554 lbs (empty weight of aircraft)

Please note: You are still allowed to fly with a company after victory or failure of the scenario

    Sounds pretty cool cyprus!

    Just seen this too -

    Flight Simulator X - NL2000 v4 - The Netherlands 2000 Complete Scenery Package - 35.3GB!

35Gb!? - How much space does this game require, including any textures/locations/plane addons that are needed/fun...?

This passengers sounds really cool, but I'm wondering why this is an "add-on"?
What do you do in the stock "game" if that isnt a major part of it?

edit: Just realised, sorry for hijacking a screenshot thread.

My FSX folder is currently at 25Gb but in all honestly I won't be looking to make any major scenery add-ons or what not as I hardly notice the ones I've installed anyway. I'm more interested in adding airplanes which weigh in between 20Mb-150Mb each.

@Cooleo: I was only flying a little farty Mooney Bravo White and didn't even notice until the co-pilot told me at about 2,000ft

    Airplane: Boeing 737-800 (British Airways)
    Location: English Chanel
    Altitude: 6,500ft

I loved the sky in this one

Great idea that. Do you find it performs just as well in windowed mode than it does fullscreen?

I didn't really notice any drop in performance during windowed mode. Realistically you should only use it when you're cruising at altitude where the polygon count is much lower and fps are good anyway.

Got this installed and have had a go of getting off the ground in the Microlight. OMG the steering is a pain in the arse.

You tap it left, it does nothing, tap it twice, nothing... 3 times... Sweet FA.
Bash the living granny out of the turn key, ML nose dives and crashes. WTF?

Hard to get the hang of this, gonna attach XBox controller now.

Where is the best place to search for addons for this?
Newzleech looks like a viral spunk fest when searching for stuff for this!
I'm happy to have 25GB+ stuff downloads.

    Hoping to fly a harrier!

By the way, I noticed that a few of the planes I've downloaded only have working textures if I disable DX10. Is there any major difference between DX9 and DX10? Am I missing out on anything by using DX9 to fly the planes that only work with it?

EDIT: Found the answer - There's no visual difference between DX9 and DX10 modes in FSX except shadows in the virtual cockpit.
Most difference is in performance, some DX10 mode users have a slight performance increase over DX9.

And unless you're flying default aircraft only, DX10 doesn't make much sense since most add-ons aren't DX10 compatible.
