What is the best way to optimise my graphic settings in this game? My graphics is ATI HD 3850 with 512 (I think).
But I cant seem to happy medium.
Managed to compress the video down at the cost of quality but the video still gives you a good idea of the frame rate.

I have tried to download this a few times - riddled with trojans etc. My local gaming shop never has a copy Might have another look tomorrow as I'd love to give this a go. It's been many, many years since I played FS and X looks the bomb. I used to play it about 14 years ago and I will never forget doing a flight from NY to Washington at night using the stars to navigate. I got lost after about 40 minutes into the flight and ended up landing on some small light aircraft strip in my 747 which ultimately couldn't slow down before the end of the runway... what a laugh though hehe.

I can't comment on DX10 running on XP but I can tell you that I'm more than happy playing it with a 360 pad. No doubt a proper joystick with analogue throttle etc etc will add to the realism but like I say, the 360 pad does everything I want.
Good look with the tutorials, stick with it, it's hard work but the fact you've taken the first steps to play it means you must be the willing type!
I've seen some mention of multiplayer servers out there... Anyone know how this works? Would be good to get on a server

There's a multiplayer tab in the game menu, you do need a Gamespy account to log in. My FSX was installed from the torrent link I gave on page 1. I also installed SP2 and I can log on to multiplayer servers with no problem. It looks pretty easy to setup your own server too, I wouldn't want to do it myself though as my internet connection sucks balls
Just installing now
Yeah I'm willing to give it a go as I always wondered what the fuss was about and seem to have a strange taste in games.
I'll give the 360 pad a go, and maybe dig the stick oput the shed later if I'm not happy with it.
Will report back on how I do, and multiplayer sounds..um..interesting...
Someone needs to host a server on this..
I'd be interested in some online play, I think you can do it with Gamespy or something.
Bollocks!
Installed it, got "error 1945", so followed the instructions, installed SDK etc
Installed again, successfully this time, applied the crack (3 x /dll files) and launched the game.
Started the 1st mission, loaded up, resolution was crap, so quit out and chose 1920x1080 and re-tried the 1st mission...
The game the quits with the "Send Error" dialog box, I have reset the settings, re-booted, tried all resolutions, now it just does the same thing every time, loads to 100% then bombs out..
Gonna have to do another install, gah!
I tried this with my XBox360 Pad, but turns out it needs to be wired. Set it up with my PS3 controller instead. Works spot on!
The best part of online for me is when you can both sit in the cockpit as pilot/co-pilot
Spoiler:
Bah, still not working here...
Works OK on Free Flight mode, but crashes when I try the first mission.
Tried the second one and the water looks like the pic attached...any ideas what's wrong?
Using 2 x 9600GT not in SLi mode..(so 1 x 9600 then!)
I think it may have something to do with the actual game exe. I have a hazy recollection that I was having similar issues. I've attached the .exe I use to start up my game. Make sure you back up your existing one before replacing it with this one. Let me know if it helps.
EDIT: Additional - Have you installed SP2? If not, install it now, I also have the crack files and exe for that. I'm pretty sure thats how I solved my issues.
