Help Solder sucker in Blackpool Area

Hopefully someone can help me out!

Desperately need a solder sucker.... attempting a j-tag, got everything spot on for the nand part then on the last point my hand slipped and bridged 2 points. I've got a de-soldering braid but that doesn't work for shit.... totally useless.

Just been to B&Q but they don't sell them.... if anyone has one they don't mind lending me for the night i'd be very grateful, i'll hopefully have something i can give in return as a thanks.

if you can travel to burnley, i have one for you but it is an hour away from you

edit: try dipping the solder braid in liquid type flux, that usually helps as it cleans most of the grease off and allows the solder to stick to it

Yeah, i got mine from maplin, wasn't the soldermop tho, that was £12, thought it was a bit expensive..... should have known!

Thanks for the offer, i'm hoping something a little more local pops up. I've got a flux pen that i've run along the braid and solder to aid removal. Doesn't even seem to be melting the solder. How long should i be waiting for it to melt? i'd have thought it would be quite quickly..... there's probably a knack to it that i don't yet know.

    It should melt instantly !

Dont hold the iron there too long or you will lift pads off the MB and be sending it off to me

I was pretty cautious of that so haven't held it for long, when it didn't react i left it.... odd that the solder doesn't even melt when using the braid. I knew i should have got the pump when i was in store but tried to keep expenses down.

I'm frustrated that it happened to me on the last point..... i'm hoping it doesn't get to the point where i have to send it off, might come to that if i can't pull it off

Is your iron bit clean and getting hot enough mate? I've seen a few people with shitty tips and going through braid etc. seems to take an age only to end up lifting pads.

Yeah, tip is clean, i've left the iron for a good while to heat up, i've spent an hour reading tips and watching tutorials...... just think it's down to the shitty maplins braid.... or my inexperience.

Funny, I always found desolder braid to be brilliant, Desolder pumps can cause damage and be a bit messy if you havnt got a small bit of that rubbery tube stuff on the tip [The proper name escapes me ]

Don't think it'd be easy, i could do a wire install for the j-tag part but don't really have the balls to go for it, still new to this soldering lark..... always wimped out with solderless and software solutions.

Here's a picture of the board anyway, see what you think:
