Your contacts and calendar should have been syncronised online, they'll download once you sync, personal settings will have gone and photos if they weren't on your SD. Apps will need to be re-installed too.
I maybe wrong about the photos and apps because i'm not sure how unrevoked performs the root..... i lost them doing the gold card method, even though i'd made a backup using mybackuppro.

    no you don't,

you get the zip put it on your goldcard and then load the fake-flash in recovery mode.

First reboot the device while holding up and power, select recovery, wait for the red triangle hold up and press power. Now select sdcard:update.zip and that update.zip should be the fake flash file you downloaded. This will give a further menu on which you select install from zip and you browse to the cooked custom rom.

    http://android.modaco.com/content/ht...-without-a-pc/

this is reall y easy once you have the root.

I also had a hang on the htc logo screen. Just do the above and reflash on a new rom. Also sometimes you have to wait up to 5 mins on first boot.

So to root my phone I just browse to http://unrevoked.com/m/ and tap and it will root my phone? Then its as simple as copying the cooked rom to the root of my SD card and restoring to that?

Sounds too simple to be true!

I used the Unrevoked multi platform download http://unrevoked.com/recovery/(Win,MAC,Linux) and then run the app, I had issues with windows drivers but it was a single line in an Ubuntu Terminal.

It simply roots the phone and leaves everything else alone.

I recommend getting ROM manager for downloading, and installing ROMs also offers the ability to get to the recovery boot to make Nandroid back ups etc. easily from within Android.

ROM manager can also partition your SD card for A2SD+ but this will wipe all your SD data so back up first.

Titanium Backup is a great app for backing up data and apps to SD from within Android.

So far, I just downloaded the windows version of unrevoked, installed the drivers then ran revoked, it added teh green system menu thing and from here i loaded the leedroid zip. I now have a 2.2 system. Is there anything else I should do?

How do you install apps to the SD card as well?

Sorry for delayed response. As orange juicy says. The modaco rom is being continously updated.

I just copy the zip to my sd card then update from that. I haven't done a wipe for the last 3 or 4 updates and its kept all of my data too.

    1. download unrevoked 3.1
    2. run the file and open hboot driver.htm

    4. at the end of step 3 reboot your phone through the reboot options presented. Use the volume keys for up and down and the power button to select
    5. install HTC sync
    6. go into control panel on your computer and uninstall HTC Sync BUT leave the file right next to it called HTC driver installer
    7. restart computer
    8. run reflash.exe as administrator
8.5 have a ciggie and connect using debug usb mode
8.6 poo yourself that you may brick your phone
    9. connect phone
    10. leave it.
    11. rooted
    12. wonder if anything has changed as it all looks the same

thats roughly what I did, minus the ciggie and plus about 5 instances of waiting and watching the HTC logo for 5 minutes, wondering if my phone was bricked.

I'm trying to do this but i'm having issue with my SD card. Windows keeps picking it up and then it disappears. Then it reappears and just continues like that. Anyone seen this before? Suggestions?

Which method are you doing and what stage are you at?

It does get scary, that first reboot goes to the logo and then sits there for aaaaages

I'm using XP and i've tried a different PC now so my first issue is sorted. Its now pushing recovery image but its been doing that for 10 mins now.

Whats the single command line you use in Ubuntu to root it? I've got a Ubuntu machine at home but couldn't figure it out.
