Zelda: OOT Coming to Gamecube...sortof

According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Japanese gamers who pre–order the GC version of Zelda will also receive a second disc containing information on Biohazard 4 and F–Zero but best of all, a GC version of Ocarina of Time!

Apparently though only the first 100 000 buyers of The Legend of Zelda: Tact of the Wind will get their hands on this GC update. Whilst demand will obviously be phenomenal, the fact that the unreleased URA –Zelda – the 64DD add on which continued where OoT left off – is also to be included, will undoubtedly make copies of this package perhaps the most sought after Nintendo product for decades.

More news as we get it, but in the meantime we’re off to try and pre–order a stack of copies…

Zelda Ocarina of Time & Ura Zelda For GameCube

The latest issue of Famitsu magazine reveals that Japanese gamers who pre-order Zelda will get a disc containing Zelda: Ocarina of Time and the 64DD Ura Zelda extra quests both playable on Nintendo GameCube. The disc also has preview movies of Biohazard 4 and F-Zero.

Zelda ships on December 13th in Japan and the pre-order offer will start on November 28th. Expect official news from Nintendo soon. EGM claims to have confirmation from Nintendo that the pre-sell offer is legit. Lets hope a similar pre-sell offer is made to US gamers.

15:28 Holy mackerel! In what must rank as one of the greatest freebies in videogame history, Nintendo is to hand out discs in Japan containing the complete version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. And no, this isn't a wind up.
As if that wasn't enough to have us rolling around on the floor dribbling on ourselves like rolling, dribbling things, the disc will also contain the unreleased Ura Zelda expansion - originally planned for the 64DD hardware - and footage from F-Zero and Resident Evil 4. This is possibly the most exciting moment of our lives.

When it's clear Nintendo could release Ocarina and Ura as a full-price title and still clean up, it's frankly astonishing that the company is releasing it for free. But we love them for it in a deeply depraved way.

A spokesperson for Nintendo Europe said: "It's a marketing exercise. Zelda on GameCube is a massive title for us and this is a way of raising awareness of the title." Consider our awareness raised.

The spokesperson was unable to confirm whether or not the game would be enhanced from the original, but we expect word back from Japan tomorrow. The spokesperson was also unable to state if this promo disc would make it to the West, as it is "still too early for that decision to be made." If they don't release it over here there'll be riots.

100,000 of the discs are to be released in Japan, handed out to gamers who pre-order Zelda on GameCube from November 28. We'll bring you further details of this astounding announcement as soon as we receive them.
