I gamble too much!

Serious. I cannot stop chasing my losses, even if i won a small amount i end up losing i all.

I'm now unemployed after being sacked from my job (I used to work for a big name online Casino company) and what money i had to live on and pay for food has almost vanished.

Basically, i can't get enough of Blackjack, I've played the game so many times and think 'I can win big' but how can i stop before I really screw mysef over and others around me?

If you gamble online there should be an option in your account for self exclusion. This will block you from the site for a period of time specified by you.

Gambling is one of those things where it's all or nothing for addicts. I used to have a bit of an addiction to fruit machines but now I will play if I have spare change or steer clear if not. But to get to this stage I had to stop playing altogether for a couple of years. Luckily I was very young and was at school so I didn't have masses to lose and almost no responsibilities like a missus or kids.

There are support groups but self exclusion will cut you off at the source.

Thanks for the replies.

@evilsatan: I've self excluded from Paddypower and have emailed betfair (scammers), and I can't gamble for bet365 for 12 months (not self exclusion reasons) however there are so many companies, like victor chandler, 888.com mansion etc id need to try and not visit.

@prezzy, 600 quid but now i have no job i'm fooked

It's a hard situation but maybe try to occupy your time job hunting and doing things with the family if you have one. I find with anything like gambling, booze, drinking or even drugs I am at my weakest when bored or under the influence. If you gamble more when drinking then try to lay off the booze. Different methods work for different people but try to visualise the money you are saving, imagine it's profit.

Willpower will always be the most important part.

Crikey, i guess the couple of grand i've lost in the last 2-3 months is worse than i first thought..

Horse racing, footy, tennis, poker online, poker offline, blackjack, fruit machines, stocks and shares - you name it i've been gambling on it!

agree with evilsatan. boredom is the key. when sat around not knowing what to do you automatically revert to the thing you know and do the most. in your case its betting on cards. trt getting out of your living space. go for a run. get down the job centre. find things that have needed doing (fixing) and sort them out. as well as this you should find some help from some sort of group. gamblers anon are all over the place. good luck.

As soon as you know you have a problem you are half way there from solving it.
My mate got his inheritance money at 21, which was �20k (lucky bastard, so he could get an mortgage). But less than 1 year later he had gambled �17.5k away at casino's, then his dad took the remaining cash back. He only realised he had a problem recently (a year later), however he still believes he can win big.

ive never really been a gambler, but i no i have an addictive personality so i tend to stay away from fruit machines, card machine and lottery etc.

but i do play live poker at a working mans club every week, gamble about
�30 a week, wins somtimes but mostlty i dont.
but to be honest a pint there is �2.20 there is about 45 of us been playing for months and i have a good time.

i enjoy poker but does this class me as a gambler

In the strictest sense of the word, yes you are a gambler. But not an addict. You play once a week with a specified limit and you don't go over your limit of find yourself looking for additional games through the week or online.

There is nothing wrong with a social flutter as long as you can stay in control of the stakes and frequency only gambling what you can afford to lose.
