itunes: iphone needs restore?

hey,
out of nowhere itunes tells me that my iphone needs a restore and does not want to sync. the fw/phone itself is working as normal ...
is this a itunes bug or something? anyway to fix this?

just for clarification: if i restore - the jailbreak will be gone + all my apps?

Probably unrelated but my daughter's ipod touch had the same issue so i reinstalled itunes to the pc and bingo!

May be different with iphone but cant see why ??

how to fix this:
/private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes/
delete iTunesDB and iTunesControl

and clear:
/private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/Music

your music is gone but your phone syncs again, without a complete reset.

Something happened my Iphone 3GS today could not get it to restore back to the software I had already so was not happy having to update on itunes were it went up to 4.1. Am really not happy and if by any chance it will be seen by anybody in Apple would you ever sort out the Delivery reports for the sms its getting to be a bit of a joke any other phone manufacture put this on there phones. it really taking the piss
