Help Sony Eriksson - Battery Charge Probs.

    Hello,

I have two Sony Eriksson phones – K750i & K610i. Both of these phones for some reason don’t keep their charge. The phones have not been bashed around or dropped on the floor. I have tried a new battery as well, but after a full charge, the phone doesn’t last me as long as it used too.

I ran this passed a mate of mine and he said that it could well be that the phone needs to be flashed again with its software as it could have some sort of bug. The battery icon shows that the phone is fully charged but when I make a phone call it starts bleeping to say that it needs charging and after a while will just turn itself off.

Could someone please help me with this dilemma ? Also if software is needed, could you point me to the right direction ?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply,

Could you point in the direction of where to download the correct firmware for flashing and a guide on how to do it – sorry but have not flashed phones before and am afraid I will ruin it. Also you can’t always trust searched firmware – so recommendations would be better.

    Thanks.

Sorry I wasn't clear. It was under warranty and the network handled it for us.

The last time I flashed a Sony it was my k800i and I used Wotan server

As malty said re reflashin, its a common problem on SE phones

Take them to your nearest Sony Ericsson repair centre they will do them FOC if the handsets are in warranty, if they are not in warranty which i would doubt they are looking at the modelsthen they will charge to repair them.

PM me the imeis and i can tell you if they are in warranty

Thanks also for reply - they are no longer under waranty as they were upgrades from about 2-3 yrs ago.

I would like to attempt to re-flash them myself - is this recommended, as you can't be certain with firmware you get of the net or should I just go to a mobile phone centre ? Tempted to do this, as never flashed mobile phone before - but need idiot's guidance please.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply and link. Checked out the website, pretty neat, but you need to buy credit as you said. So what I did id go to Sony ericsson’s website and had a read there too.

On Sony’s website it ask you to download their update service software, install it and just follow instructions on how to connect the phone through usb lead. Then it connects to their server and updates the firmware on the phones. So I have done this now for k610i and k750i.

The problem is that I also have the same battery charging problem with Sony Ericsson k700i, but they do not cater for up to date firmware for this phone as it is a fairly old model. I couldn’t find this on the wotan server website either.

    Can this phone’s software/firmware be updated ?
If so is there a specific k700i software for it or can I use the k750i software to flash it with ?
Is there other compatible software subsititute for the k700i ?
The k700i didn’t come with a usb compatible phone cable and the k750i usb cable is different, is there any way of updating/flashing the software without cable (Bluetooth Dongle or other) or should I just go and get a usb cable for it ?
