Default Oh Jeez.. The HORROR.. THE HORROR!! :(

I know I'm having to clone out a few dust spots in my shots. Since starting to shoot macro with a smaller aperture, I've been noticing a few more.

I always attempt to stop dust getting unto my camera. I change lenses with the body facing downwards but well, after I think 3 years of ownership, it's bound to get some in. Thankfully, these are not particularly noticeable on landscape shots, even the long exposures but well, my macro stuff is getting very frustrating as I'm spending too much time cloning out dust spots in areas of shallow DoF.

having taken a test shot at F32 on a neutral blue colour on screen, behold the horror that has made me decide I am going to HAVE to purchase an Arctic Butterfly cleaning kit.

Desaturated, contrast adjusted just to highlight the shite . Check out the feckin black hole towards the bottom...

    Stunning photograph Ian.

The balance and juxtaposition of the blobs is bewilderingly and beautifully uniform. Planet XB 2875 Bilbo, in orbit just a few light years from the black hole is stunningly rendered as clearly as the great red spot of Jupiter.

    God save your soul m8.

I use the lenspen SensorKlear for the bits that the auto cleaning on the 40d can't remove.
But man that is a lot of dust.

Aye it certainly is mate. Like I said though it's not overly visible on a large portion of shots. Just since I've started shooting macro at a smaller aperture has it naturally become a little more noticeable. I must admit when I did that neutral colour test I just sat there in disbelief.

Still, it's not something that can't be removed with patience and care .

3 years I suppose it could have been worse but ideally I shouldn't have let it get like that.

Dust is the biggest problem for digital sensors.

Some people try cleaning in BULB mode. Don't. Electro-static charges are at work in BULB mode. Always use sensor cleaning mode in the menu.

LOL oh I'd be cleaning the sensor in FULL accordance to the manual instructions for whichever cleaning kit I get.

Why would anyone try to clean in bulb mode? don't get that at all. The sensor clean option is there for a reason.

Because they think that in bulb mode, the mirror is up to access the sensor. That's what they say.

    Some people never read manuals.
