Out of the many insects in the garden, one of the ones I truly hate is the earwig. There is just something about them that sets my skin crawling... Ughh... Might have been my brother saying to me when I was a kid that they go in your ears and eat your brains....
Anyway, this delightful (not) creature was on a leaf in the lily of the valley. I think it had fallen off the garden bench cos I saw one there a couple of nights ago, and it's a more natural place I think for them to hide (remind me not to sit on the bench late at night moon watching - it would be just my luck one would find it's way too close to me for comfort!)
Tried a slightly different angle in a couple of other shots, but this one shows it off nicely (I know, the pincers blur away, but that's macro DoF for you).
