    Wiat until it sinks in, then the excitment will show. As for the new car, there's no reason why you can't still get one, I've had more new cars since the kids than before :o) - as they grow you need a different car, naturally.

    All the best mate. Obviously, you'll have to change some priorities etc. but imo, what a child gives you in return usually out-weigh's things you can buy.

    Oh, and imo, bond early and for as long as you can. I have four kids covering an age range from 7 to 26. When my eldest was born I was too busy bringing home the daily bread and work, work, work etc.

    No resentment either way, though we're more like friends than dad and daughter.

    I shall give you the best advice there is;
    IGNORE ALL ADVICE!
    That's because your child is unique, nobody else's child is the same so how they were is different to how yours will be.
    Your life will change and lots of doors are suddenly closed. But the one door that opens brings a whole new everything.
    When junior arrives, take a bloody long look in the eyes. Those eyes and that life will be shaped by everything you and your Mrs do, those eyes will only learn for many years.

    ....and for gods sake, give your Mrs a huge cuddle at the right times, she will go through hell just to deliver perfection!
    Best of luck, and monster congratulations.
    ignore all advice!
    Apathy? can't be arsed.

    Congratulations! My wee yin is almost 7 months now, I can't even remember life without her. As above, everyone will be giving you advice about the kid but really don't forget the wife, mine had a hellish pregnancy and labour - buy her something nice when she's done cookin'

    Oh yeah I forgot to mention to encourage her to do her pelvic floor exercises so that at least she has a usable, from your perspective, clout afterwards.
