Wanted New or as new laptop

Looking for a laptop for my mother.

    Requirements are:

    No celery processors.
    3gb+ ram
    250gb+ HDD
    Webcam built in
    15"+ screen
    A decent make
    Ideally win7
    boxed and in excellent condition
    around £350

Now I know there are a few offers on over the Bank Holiday in various places, so I may grab something. But if anyone needs to shift a lappy let me know.

Last week I could have sorted you out mate, I generally try to sell that kind of spec for £300 and they have flown out the door. I have PM'd you a recommendation

I used to be a fan of HPs but gone off them now. Out of interest Wompa, do you get them in due to graphics issues or a range of issues? Almost all manufacturers have the dreaded nvidia graphics issues.

For reference I PM'd a Toshiba model recommendation as I know those machines inside out and they are fantastic for a casual user such as a mum (got my mum one).

While this may be the case, it could also be that there are more of them sold than other laptops;-)

I'm not one to say one make is better than another, as they all have lemons in their catalogue. Same as cars.

Laptop needs to be as trouble free as possible to limit my own stress.

What sort of model was it please mate?

I've got a P300 and got my mate an L150-1XQ I think it was off Argos Clearance last week for my mate and it was a great bit of kit for the money - think it was about £280?

Going to pick another up for the parents this weekend - thinking of taking advantage of the PC World deals at the min, although there's an MSI one on Argos with a BD-ROM drive for 349!

Yeah it is always the Graphics card issue. We reball the chip and it lasts for another two years. The reason they are shit is because there is no lead in the solder

The P300 is a fantastic bit of kit, very powerful. The P series is actually manufactured by Toshiba whereas the cheaper units are tosh branded but manufactured by cheaper companies.

I recommended the L450 series, I have had 5 or so in the past fortnight and every single one flew out the door. I had a brief play with them and they are an improved version of the L300 series which had a few flaws but are still great value on the second hand market.

We got a few hp 550's in when my boss asked me to get a laptop cheaper than the dell e6400's, high rate of returns, mainly trackpad coming loose so operational but it would bounce when you tap it, and inverters for the screens going.

Dell have the same one (I think) for £549.

3rd column along. £350 for a core i3 is a pretty good deal.

Cheers for the offer but the work ones are g'teed, when that expires I don't think I'll be to bothered about them - I would love to get rid of them all as it's a pain to have to maintain an image for just 6 machines.

That's the one I'm looking to get so far. Was only marginally put off by the 2gb ram, but I think for convenience I'll get it.

I agree, I'm a thinkpad fanboy, but for the old lady it's got to be new ;-) Then if she borks it, it's her fault!

Bumping this as I'm still after one. I was away briefly over the bank hol and I forgot to order the one I wanted and it's now out of stock except for the last one in a shop somewhere in cookoo land. (IE nowhere...)

Any more deals? Got about a week or so to sort something.

Next best thing to that i3 HP deal I've seen is: http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop...te_ID=googlesp

But the spec seems all over the place!
