    Default Samsung LCD problem

Hi, I have a Samsung 52 inch LCD LE52m87bdx/xeu which cost me a fortune a few years ago. The problem I am having is when it's not been used for a while like in the mornings and I turn it on. The picture comes on for a couple of secs flashes off and on and then stays black, there is still sound and you can change channels etc but you cannot see anything. If I leave it in this state for about an hour and turn it off and then on the picture stays on, if I do this any sooner it's black screen. Also a humming can be heard when cold.
I can easily change the parts on the set myself but I'm not sure if it's the power supply board causing the problem or one of the 2 invertors

    Anyone have any ideas

    Thanks
    Bub

The screen is totally black as if the tv was off. The hairdryer trick is a good idea, it worked on my 3redrings 360. I just need to be sure before forking out on expensive parts

    Thanks

if ther is no picture at all then its not the invertors or anything to do with the backlight
if you heat the caps on the psu that will give you and idea if its psu problem , wich is the most common failure in lcd tvs
do it b4 you first turn it on when its cold , give it a right good heat .

Thanks, I'll get the hairdryer out and try that. I have just found a recon power supply for £40 so I might take a punt.

I followed a guide on DF & fixed my mates samsung telly for about £8, if I hadn't paid for shipping & minimum qty the cost would have been about 50p. Sorry can't search easily with this tapatalk but the thread is here somewhere. If the capacitors are blown they're easy to spot.

The capacitors are easy to do yourself. Mine kept doing the dreaded clicking sound and taking an age to power up. Opened it up and you could see 3 capacitors had blown. Trip to Maplin and 10 mins later it was fixed.

Here is the guide I followed:

That sounds just like my mates telly, it was a 32" samsung which wouldn't power on. I think there might have been a flashing light. If you do try to fix it yourself let me know the capacitors you need, I've got spares of 2 out of the 3 types on the 12v side of the power board. If you need them I'll just send them, no bother.

Edit - the thread I was on about is called "Samsung LCD power problem" - apologies I can't paste the link here from my phone.

not all faulty caps buldge or leak , I find a hair dryer and a can of freezer spray the best way to narrow down intermitent faults.

    FCPF11N60

So any ideas what the fook it does and anyone got one going spare before i spend £1.77 + delivery

Not had a chance to look at the set yet for 2 reasons, im too busy at the moment and i cant get anyone to help me get it off the wall (dont trust the wife) and mates are on hols.
Wgen i get a chance to investigate the insides if i feel its not the capacitors that are faulty i might use this service
    http://mobile.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/...repair-service
Could work out cheaper than a replacement board

Bugger when they get accidently damaged by flying Wii remotes or some other means, most insurers are simply replacing these days without even a visit
