Default A380 turns up and Manchester for the first time

Getting out with the camera to try new things, I heard about the A380 turning up at Manchester for the first time last night and decided to pop round, original plan was drive out there about 11ish plane landing at 12:25. Prebooked car parking last night and heard on the radio this morning it was busy at 8:30am so got up, showered and off we went arrived at about 9:30.

Anyway had a bit of work to do while there phone calls etc so shooting was limited but got a few. I won't bore you with the many shots of 777's and 737's

Airbus A300 Beluga flew overhead as we waited.

The A380 finally turned up (on time)

A380 on its way in, just as the old big bird passed the viewing area and got in the way.

Due to the 474 no chance of getting the rear wheels touch down but I did get the front wheels smoke, shame I cut the wing tip off.

The sad sight of concorde in prison as the A380 came past.

    At the plane wash

The A380 getting on its way again

Sadness, The last time I was at the viewing area, concorde came in for its last flight.

I know it is (the first pic) I didn't have a clue what it was, everyone was shouting its over head this huge thing so I just went to 200mm and fired a frame or 3 off, chimped and zoomed in and found out it was that weired looking thing.

The concorde was just shot through the windows, I had poped the 10-22 on for some shots of the vulcan as we left then decided I wanted an ice cream so walked past the concorde building so gave it a try, lens up against the glass I was missing the tip off so I had to tilt it slightly tried makeing a hood with my hand but the bright sun was going through my hand so a few lighter patches showed up towards the top. Im sure if I had a clue with photoshop I could sort them.

Here's a pic of the Conc's cockpit. No coffee cup holder ffs, unless they used the dash, maybe?

This one is up near Edinburgh though.

been on the Concorde at the NYC Intrepid air and sea museum. Tiny inside, really cramped nowhere near as luxurious as you would expect.

    Nice pictures.

My only suggestion would be to have used a lower shutter speed on the landing and take off shots, with a little panning it would give motion blur to the ground and more appearance of movement, otherwise great stuff

I had been practising panning all day on the other stuff but it was insanely bright even with what I consider narrow apertures it was still giving me 1/100th the heat haze was blurring the background as well, I need a camera with a 7" screen on the back. The best I got was a few prop planes with blur on the props, even got a full disk on a few but I find commercial planes boring as hell to photograph, very little interest they all look the same.

I flew on Singapore Airlines A380 to Singapore and back earlier this year. By far the best flight I've ever been on. Great service, brilliant entertainment system, plenty of space and really quiet. I sat upstair next to the window in economy. You get a storage box next to you that you can dump your bag in so if you need anything you dont have to get up to grab it. You can also rest you arm, drink, pillow etc on it. Every seat is also provided with a usb port to charge you phone or plug a USB stick in so you can work or view Word and Excel files. Every seat is also provided with a power socket to plug a laptop in too. Next flight is BA 747 to Hong Kong in November and it's not even going to compare :-(
