Unfortunately its no longer free, as of 8th Sept there is now a $14 charge.. however you're good for 2 years.

I done my ESTA the other week it took minutes to fill in but for what ever reason they took a further 3 days to approve my application. The same happened for my girlfriend when she done it around about same time.

Does anyone know how much baggage is allowed for United Airlines ?. The website seems to indicate 2x 23kg + hand luggage but seems too generous. Anybody know if that's right ?.

Airlines in the US used to have a 2 peice polecy up to 32kg yep 64kg of luggage per person thats a huge amount of shit. Carry on had no weight limit as long as you could lift it in to the overhead bins and it fit in there it was ok. I took 18kg of stuff packed in a carry on sized bag no problem and managed to make it look effortless putting it in the overhead locker.

Last September it had changed, in economy you got 1 peice up to 23kg which is more inline with all the holiday flight stuff (who now say 15kg the bastards) carry on was unchanged but we tried to keep the weight down and spread the stuff between us so about 10kg per carry on bag. You can pay for the upgraded seats to premium and get increased baggage allowance but the cost for 2 people was more than the cost of the $50 for the flight back.

For the trip back we took the airline up on their extra bag option for $50 for all the shopping. we bought the bag over there another samsonite rolling holdall but the bigger one so we can fit one of the smaller bags in it for the future.

If your unsure contact your travel agent or who ever you booked with they will tell you your baggage allowances. But carry on allowance is very good.
