Info AVCHD videos, how to play once converted

We have bought our son a ps3 for xmas and ive been converting some of his films, ive got one now thats been converted and ready to stick on the ps3, do you have to put them in any particular folder or can you put them anywhere?

bit of a noob question but ive never bothered with the ps3 before, it would be nice to convert some of his films which have lost their original cases and covers and put them on the h/d.

is it just like psp and stick em in the video folder, nothing else needed?

    thanks

I think you can just browse the folder once in video etc and select the M2TS file and it will play - has been a while since I watched any films on the ps3 but iirc that used to work

I have tried this and i am having problems, i have the folder structure on the NAS and i can pick out the m2ts and the vid plays fine, but there is no sound....

I have tried 2 files and had the same result, have i got something set wrong or have i just been unlucky with the files i have chosen that are wrong...?

    Thanks, Sorry to hijack Det...!

If the file has a DTS soundtrack you will need to convert it to AC3 for the sound to play through the PS3
