    Weird site ftp logs

I'm pretty new to having a real site (instead of just a free netfirms one etc) but thanks to friend I now have one with a normal domain name (.com). Today I had a look at my ftp_logs folder with my ftp client. In it were 1407 files, some of which were actual executable command programs ending in the .com extension and others ending in bytes_log i.e:-

    21st-tek.com

    zulco.gulmag.com-bytes_log

In there are sites ranging from insulin dependents news sites to the Anthem Arizona's Farmest Digest, also quite a lot of porn sites that even I wouldn't look at

I just wondered if anyone can shed any light on why these are in my log folder - keeping in mind I'm well new to this caper

Probably down to your hosting provider not having a clue about how to do web logs correctly. At a guess they just have 1 dir that everyone can access - if you want to have some fun try deleting the files. Then if they complain say, I was just cleaning up files I didn't want

Cool, thanks Gandalf - I would have been extremely surprised if it had of been the Hosting Provider as they seem like a highly motivated and capable (yet deceptively inexpensive) and all-round smashing company, run by some of the friendliest (not in a stranger on the tube who tries to start a conversaion way) IT professionals I've ever dealt with :cheese:
